Born in Bridgewater, Nova Scotia 1940. Donald Pentz studied at Mt. Allison University, BFA – 1966, and the University of Regina, MFA – 1979. He was also privileged to spend a summer at the Banff School of Fine Arts. His work has been exhibited in galleries across Canada and as far a field as England, Japan, France and areas of the United States.
As well as doing studio work, Pentz enjoys working on location with oils or watercolours. Is also a member of the CSPWC (Canadian Society of Painters in Watercolour). This occasional change to “plein air” painting allows for a more spontaneous approach to making art, and is a refreshing release from the more controlled studio environment.
